Theisen's is a regional retail chain of 20 stores in Iowa. Theisen's stores sell a variety of consumer goods, which can be found in their name: Home, Farm, and Auto. However, they do sell merchandise for recreation, which includes hunting and fishing equipment and other sporting goods. For the home, there are a variety of goods that Theisen’s stocks. Homeowners will find appliances, household hardware, and pet supplies merchandise at their stores. Additionally, other hardware types are available along with lawn & garden supplies and paint. . To serve the Iowa farming community, Theisen’s naturally stocks an assortment of farm supplies from livestock supplies to tools to farming equipment. For automobile owners, Theisen’s carries an assortment of options from auto parts and accessories to auto maintenance and trailers. Consumers may also have their automobile serviced at Theisen’s Tire & Service Center. Customers have the option to take free popcorn with them while they shop.
Theisen’s – History in Iowa Since 1927
Theisen's was founded in 1927 as Theisen Battery & Electric by Leo and Kathryn Theisen, and was located on 8th Street in downtown Dubuque, Iowa where it is currently headquartered. In 1948 the company became the Theisen-O'Neill Tire Company, before being known as Theisen Distributing, and then assumed its current name of Theisen Supply, Inc. Initially based in Dubuque with one store, the company opened a second store in Maquoketa, Iowa in 1957. During the 1960s and 1970s the company opened additional stores in Anamosa, Dyersville, Tipton, DeWitt, and Monticello. In recent years the company has expanded to new locations, such as Marshalltown, Charles City and Cedar Rapids, relocated several stores to larger facilities, and built an addition on to the Dubuque store.
