Rack Room Shoes - Giving back through shoes
Rack Room Shoes was founded by Phil Levinson in 1920, in Salisbury, North Carolina. Levinson later sold the store to his son-in-law, Mort Lerner, and in 1984, it was bought by the Deichmann Group. Today, there are over 450 stores in 34 states, under the names Rack Room Shoes and Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse, an Atlanta-based chain which was bought in the 80s. The company is dedicated to giving back to the community and runs an initiative called Rack Room Gives, which allows customers to strengthen and support local fundraising opportunities. One of these is Shoes That Fit, which is a national non-profit organization which provides children in need with comfortable, new school shoes. The company has provided more than 89,000 pairs of shoes to local disadvantaged children.
