PacSun - From surf to lifestyle
PacSun, short for Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc., was founded by Tom Moore in 1980. It began as a small shop in Newport Beach, Orange County, selling apparel and accessories from established surf brands. It has since expanded to include skate and streetwear labels, with stores throughout the country. It also ships internationally to over 40 countries. Its first national advertising campaign, 'Dress Irresponsibly', featured famous athletes and helped transform the store from just a surf and skate store, to a leading retail of fashion brands. It engages its customers through social media, by maintaining an interactive lifestyle website and Instagram account. Today, PacSun has over 9000 employees and is publicly traded on the NASDAQ.
