Ingles - Supermarket, pharmacy, and fuel
Ingles is a regional supermarket chain focused on the Southeastern United States, with stores in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alabama. Their stores are located in suburbs, small towns, and neighborhood shopping centers and stock a wide variety of food products, including produce, meat, and frozen foods. The supermarket offers shoppers thousands of brands, including their own private label “Laura Lynn”, which is named after the founder's daughter. Customers can also expect a number of non food items at Ingles, including pharmacies, grill supplies, DVD rentals, and fuel centers. Additionally, the grocery store offers its customers more opportunities to save with "The Ingles Advantage Savings & Rewards Card", which provides shoppers with special offers, information about special events and sweepstakes, and the ability to save for college using the "Upromise" program.
Ingles – North Carolina based since 1963
Ingles was founded in 1963 by Bob Ingle, with the first retail location in Ashville, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Bob recognized the need to build stores in smaller towns and rural communities that were being ignored by the larger grocery chains. This strategy paid off and the supermarket chain has successfully expanded into other small communities across the Southeast. Today, there are around 200 retail locations across six states, with over 18,000 employees and annual sales of over $2 billion. Ingles also operates its own milk processing and packaging plant, called Milkco, Inc., which was purchased in 1982 to provide its stores with the freshest dairy products.
