Home Depot – Home improvement since 1978
The Home Depot was founded in Marietta, Georgia in 1978 by four entrepreneurs whose goal was to build warehouse-sized home improvement stores that provided more products than their competitors. The first two stores opened on June 22, 1979 in metropolitan Atlanta and since then the retail chain has expanded to almost 2,000 stores across the United States, with hundreds more in Canada and Mexico. The average Home Depot store is around 105,000 square feet in size while the largest stores are over 200,000 square feet in size. In 2012, Home Depot made almost $75 billion in profit and had over 300,000 employees worldwide.
