Buckle- Over 50 years of denim
Buckle was founded in 1948 in Kearney, Nebraska, by David Hirschfeld. It originally operated under the name, 'Mills Clothing' and sold only men's clothes. In 1965, Hirschfield's son Daniel took over operations and a second store was opened in 1967, named 'Brass Buckle'. The company began selling more casual men's clothing and by the 1970s it had evolved into a denim-based store. In 1977, a range for women was introduced. Brass Buckle changed its name to 'The Buckle' in 1991 and now operates under both 'The Buckle' and 'Buckle'. Today, the company has over 450 stores in 43 states. It has over 8,000 employees and trades under the symbol BKE on the New York Stock Exchange.
