Brooks Brothers - A true American classic
Brooks Brothers is a clothing and apparel retailer with products for men, women and children. They also have a home section, including bedding, bath and home décor. The company has been widely known for their clothing innovations throughout their long history. They invented button-down dress shirts, ready-to-wear suits, and argyles, and introduced madras to the American market from India in 1920. Women and children's clothing was introduced by the retailer much later. The selection of clothing includes tops, bottoms, outerwear and accessories for men, women and children. Because it is the oldest retail company in the country, Brooks Brothers clothing has long been a cultural symbol of the U.S. The brand went from men's only formalwear to apparel for the whole family and home décor.
Brooks Brothers - The oldest retailer in the U.S.
Brooks Brothers is the oldest retailer in the U.S., founded in 1818 by Henry Sands Brooks. The company is headquartered on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York. The company was run by the Brooks family until 2001, when it was purchased by the Retail Brand Alliance. The company started as a men's only retailer, and became famous for introducing the ready-to-wear suit. Brooks Brothers has outfitted 39 of the 44 Presidents of the United States. By 2012, the company owned and operated 280 stores worldwide. Since 2001, the retailer has offered women's clothing, clothing for children and home goods. The retailer is known for its hanging sheep logo, which comes from the symbol often used in 15th century wool trading.
