BI-LO – Serving the South since 1961
BI-LO was founded in 1961 by Frank Outlaw as “Wrenn & Outlaw”. The name changed to BI-LO in 1963 after an in store employee naming contest, all in an attempt to further develop the stores as a place where shoppers could buy the biggest national brands for less. In the following decades, the supermarket experienced growth and expansion throughout the southern United States. During the early 2000s, the chain developed the Super BI-LO concept, a larger store designed to attract higher end customers with a focus on health and organics. Today, BI-LO is headquartered in Jacksonville, Forida, has over 200 retail locations, and employs over 15,000 workers.
